The Department of Education Sciences in cooperation with the Women's Empowerment Network in Albania (AWEN) organized the Thematic Forum: "Violence in Intimate Relationships in Teens in Albania" where the guests were AWEN's representatives.
This forum was organized in the wake of the awareness and information activities that take place within the 8th of March - International Women's Day. The theme of this topic was the publication of the first national study on the same topic, carried out by AWEN with the support of the Swedish International Development Agency and Sida.
During the meeting, Doc. Ana Uka, one of the scholars of this project, explained to the students the main findings of the study. This study was attended by 1036 young people aged 16-19 in public high schools in Albania who had self-reported data on their intimate lives.
The discussion took place on the perception of young Albanians about a topic considered taboo in Albania.
At the end of the meeting, students had the opportunity to express their thoughts on the topic and to share experiences from their personal life.
